September-National Suicide Prevention Month

Updated: Sep 6

People in Berrien County continue to die by suicide. These deaths can be prevented. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. The Coalition is seeking to raise awareness of this issue by encouraging people to not be afraid to ask a tough question if they know someone is in emotional pain. The question is: “Are you thinking of killing yourself?”

The theme for Suicide Awareness month this year is "Bethe1to Ask". We are encouraging people to visit the website by that name at www.bethe1to.com to learn more about what they can do to save lives.

The Coalition has created a flyer sharing this information. We would like to get the flyer posted in as many locations as possible in the county. We ask you to consider printing the flyer at the link below and post copies where you work. Also, you could give it to businesses that you visit to put up for the public or their workers to see.

There is also a post at our Facebook page (Facebook.com/BerrienCares) that you could share on social media.

We have also decided to work with Midwest Family Radio as a sponsor of a campaign on suicide prevention during September that will include radio ads, an article in Moody on the Market, interviews on WIRX and social media ads on Facebook and Instagram.
