Several Important Data Resources Are Now LIVE AND AVAILABLE TO USE

Nonfatal Suicide Dashboard

• This dashboard includes data for the most recent 12 months on emergency department (ED) visits related to suicide attempts and suicidal ideation. You’ll also find technical documentation below the dashboard outlining the methodology, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and limitations.

Michigan Injury Indicators Dashboard

• This dashboard provides fatal and nonfatal injury data including, suicide/self-harm, for death data, hospitalizations, and ED data by year, age group, sex, race, and county of residence.

Michigan Violent Death Reporting System (MiVDRS) Dashboard

• This dashboard allows you to view circumstances associated with suicide deaths and was recently updated with 2023 data.

AVERT Firearm Injury Dashboard

• This dashboard includes data on ED visits due to firearm-related injuries for the most recent 12 months.

Additionally, the Michigan Gun Violence Prevention Task Force has released a new report outlining a set of bold, data-driven recommendations to prevent firearm injuries and death across Michigan. It reflects over a year of collaboration among public health experts, law enforcement, educators, researchers, grassroots leaders, and individuals with lived experience. The recommendations cover a wide range of focus area, including secure firearm storage, suicide prevention, school safety, community violence intervention, and stronger data systems. Together, the recommendations offer a public health roadmap to make Michigan safer and healthier for all.
